Gaylord is home to 90 small lakes, major rivers and the Pigeon River State Forest with 105,000 acres and the only free ranging elk herd. The Pigeon River State Forest offers a unique wilderness experience with some of the best hiking trails in the north. Some of the trails are also open for mountain bikes and combined with the single track at Aspen Park, Gaylord offers some of the best biking as well.
